Head of HR Full-time - Hybrid (3 days on-site) Sommerda - ~110 employees About the role We are looking for a senior HR leader to shape and drive the people agenda at Systemtechnik GmbH, a technology business with around 110 employees across two sites in central Germany. You will lead a small HR team (1.5 FTE), partner with the General Manager and senior leadership, and bring the structure, process rigour, and strategic thinking needed to take HR to the next level. Reporting line: General Manager (Systemtechnik GmbH), with a dotted line to the Group HR Director. This is a high-visibility role with real influence over culture and people strategy. What you will do Lead and develop the HR team, building scalable structures and robust end-to-end processes that align with business objectives and are continuously improved. Represent HR on the management team and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, fostering a high-performance culture and a mindset of continuous improvement. Deliver HR strategies and initiatives in line with Group standards, spanning talent management, workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement. Coach and guide senior leaders to strengthen organisational culture and leadership capability across the business. Act as HR Business Partner for day-to-day manager support, covering employee relations, performance, absence, redundancy, and flexible working. Build a trusted, collaborative relationship with the Works Council, ensuring proactive communication and effective management of all co-determination matters. Ensure full compliance with German labour law through transparent, audit-proof HR processes and documentation standards. Drive end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and induction, and coordinate training and development with external providers as needed. Deliver quarterly HR reports on recruitment, retention, people KPIs, and workforce trends to inform operational and strategic decisions. Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure data integrity across HR systems. Manage the HR cost centre budget, including quarterly planning cycles. Champion a positive corporate culture and contribute to employer branding initiatives. What we are looking for Proven HR track record within international organisations, with a history of delivering results across both strategic and operational priorities. Demonstrated ability to build HR processes, policies, and governance frameworks that scale with the organisation. Strong knowledge of German labour law and Works Council requirements. Excellent communicator with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and an approachable, professional style. Strategic thinker with a hands-on attitude and the energy to roll up your sleeves and get things done. Fluent in both English and German. Experience with HRIS systems, ideally Workday. Ability to hire, develop, and coach HR professionals within the team. Genuinely passionate about employee development, engagement, and building great places to work.
