Technical Assistant (m/f/div), Developmental Epigenetics
The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg is seeking to fill a position as Technical Assistant (m/f/div) in Dr. Nicola Iovino's department (
). The position is initially limited to two years.
YOUR TASKS:
You will support research into epigenetic events during gamete formation and the establishment of the zygotic epigenome.
* Experimental planning and collaboration in various research projects
* Performing molecular biology work with DNA, RNA, and proteins
* Maintaining and breeding Drosophila stocks, as well as performing crosses and screenings
* Performing cell biology experiments, e.g., immunohistochemistry
* Organizing and maintaining the laboratory
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
* Completed training as a technical assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA), laboratory assistant, or comparable
* Very good written and spoken English skills; intermediate or fluent written and spoken German skills are an advantage
* A high degree of responsibility, motivation, and ability to work in a team
* Experience in at least one of the following areas:
* Drosophila maintenance (stock care, crossbreeding)
* Protein biochemistry
* Basic molecular techniques (DNA/RNA extractions, PCR)
* Experience in the field of cell culture with mammalian cell systems
Experience in working with Drosophila is highly desirable, knowledge of working with mice and experience with cell cultures are an advantage.
