What to Expect
The High Voltage Test Team is seeking highly-motivated Technicians to help develop Tesla's future High Voltage Batteries and associated systems while continuously improving our existing products. Our Technicians work side by side with our Test-Engineers to validate our world class products, iterate product and test designs, and push the boundaries of our products functionality and reliability. This work requires you to be extremely detail oriented, hold your work to the highest quality standards, and have the engineering drive to perpetually innovate.

Testing requires collaboration with many engineering teams, reliability, design, integration etc. a team player mentality and exceptional communication is essential. Tesla's high voltage systems are constantly being improved, to maintain confidence we are producing the best possible products, accelerate innovation, and rapidly iterate designs, the test team needs to function efficiently and meticulously.
This role combines engineering fundamentals and processes with a scientific approach to collecting data and analysis.
What You'll Do
* Instrument and test engineering prototypes, including data acquisition and processing
* Design and construct new test equipment and improve existing fixtures
* Maintain high standard of safety and organization in our lab
* Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve mechanical & electrical issues
* Integrating systems including AC/DC high and low voltages, structural components, coolant, CAN, and scripting
* Provide careful, detail-oriented documentation during tests, and inspections
* Communicate technical questions and findings in a concise and descriptive manner
* Diagnose and troubleshoot test setup errors and failures
* Willing to travel to support lab expansion at our facilities in Fremont, Austin, Berlin, and future locations
What You'll Bring
* Associate's Degree with extensive practical experience as an automotive- or electronics-technician
* Preferred: High Voltage training or demonstrated working knowledge of battery powered systems
* Mechanical fabrication skills, machine shop experience, expert with hand and power tools
* Demonstrate mechanical aptitude – Practice disassembly and reassembly of electromechanical systems without instructions
* Experience with standard electronics lab tools including AC/DC meters, data acquisition, AC/DC power supplies
* Experience making wiring harnesses by way of soldering, crimping, following wiring diagrams etc.
* Strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals
* Creative approach to problem solving, with willingness to learn and try new things
* Excellent documentation and written communication; proficient using Microsoft Office
