About the Role
As an Underwriter Surety based in Frankfurt or Hamburg, you'll blend analytical expertise with relationship management, working with clients and brokers across Europe. This role offers the perfect balance of technical underwriting and client-facing opportunities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough underwriting for new and existing clients, balancing internal guidelines with client satisfaction
* Manage and take full accountability for assigned clients and transactions, originating new business opportunities across Europe with a focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland
* Analyze and assess underlying counterparty and transactional risks in collaboration with internal stakeholders
* Exercise underwriting authority by approving transactions within your limits or preparing well-structured transaction referrals
* Build relationships through regular interaction with clients and brokers to gather relevant information for diligent underwriting and risk management
* Monitor own portfolio by gathering and analyzing relevant data from internal and external database
* Stay informed on underwriting trends, market developments, and legal changes affecting credit and structural risks

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
* Self-confident personality with effective communication skills for engaging with clients, business partners, and senior colleagues
* Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment
* University graduate or equivalent education
* Analytical, decision-making and problem-solving mindset
* Profound understanding of credit risk and financial markets including debt financing
* Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a bank or surety insurer
* German native speaker with proficient English skills
For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 71,000 and EUR 118,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
* the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
* the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
