Ausschreibungsbereich

WHO MAY APPLY:

Current INTERNAL Local National Employees throughout Germany. This covers all current Local National employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, including U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe within Germany

and

EXTERNAL Local National Applicants, who reside in Germany.


Hauptaufgaben

* Conduct Environmental Inspections: Plan and execute regular inspections of all installation facilities to ensure strict compliance with United States military regulations and German environmental laws, while actively tracking the correction of any identified problems.

* Manage Hazardous Materials and Waste: Serve as the primary technical expert for the safe storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials, which includes legally authorizing shipping documents and creating plans to minimize overall waste.

* Develop and Deliver Training: Create and teach bilingual training classes in both English and German to educate community personnel and officers on proper waste management, pollution prevention, and spill cleanup procedures.

* Maintain Environmental Data: Manage and update environmental databases and digital mapping software to accurately track compliance records, non-compliance findings, and land management plans.

* Evaluate Projects for Environmental Impact: Review all proposed construction projects, work orders, and maintenance activities before they begin to identify potential environmental harm and recommend required protective measures.

* Manage Contracts and Quality Control: Oversee environmental service contracts (such as laboratory testing or contamination cleanup), verify contractor performance, and lead natural resource studies including protected species assessments.

* Advise Leadership and Coordinate with Authorities: Act as the primary environmental representative to local, state, and international authorities, while advising military leadership on potential legal liabilities and immediately reporting any threats to human health or the environment.

* Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifikationsanforderungen


C1-0819-7A:
Applicants for positions in this series are required to have graduated as an engineer in the discipline specifically required for the position. Graduates must be fully recognized by German authorities to practice the engineering profession in Germany. Applicants from foreign countries must obtain an equivalent certification from applicable German authorities that certifies recognition to practice the engineering profession in the area of specialization required in the position. This requirement is based on Article 49 of the Supplementary Agreement to the NATO Status of Forces Agreement, which requires that principles of German building regulations and public construction rules be applied by the U.S. Forces in Germany.

* The work requires regular and recurring construction, facilities or field inspections, investigations, or surveys in which can be a considerable amount of walking, stopping, bending, and climbing; during facilities or field inspections employee is exposed to unfavorable conditions such as high noise levels, high temperatures, adverse weather conditions, toxic fumes, irritant chemicals, hazardous wastes and materials, asbestos or heavy metal contaminated areas. The employee must be able to stay alert continually and to take special safety precautions including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing IAW the Environmental Division Job Hazard Analysis requirements.


* English Language Proficiency Level C1 and German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.
* Office automation skills required.
* Applicant must possess driver's license class B and must be able to obtain and maintain military driver's license for a sedan and pickup truck.
