Summary
HII - Mission Technologies is actively seeking a results-oriented Maven Smart System SME to support critical operations with the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). This role demands a technically skilled and mission-focused individual with a strong systems engineering background.
As a Maven SME, you will be responsible for overseeing comprehensive technical planning and conducting detailed analyses of system integration, verification, and validation activities. You will evaluate cost, risk, supportability, and performance throughout the entire system lifecycle from concept and design to testing, deployment, maintenance, and eventual disposal.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring seamless translation of customer or operational requirements into complete system solutions that balance technical, scheduling, and budgetary considerations. The role involves executing functional and timeline analyses, conducting trade studies, allocating requirements, and defining system interfaces to guide both hardware and software development in alignment with mission needs.
What You Will Do
* Design, develop, and manage Maven-based smart system applications supporting USAFE mission requirements.
* Build and maintain secure, automated CI/CD pipelines in SIPR and NIPR environments.
* Manage Maven POM structures, multi-module builds, dependency versioning, and plugin configurations.
* Support integration of smart systems with military command and control, logistics, or intelligence platforms.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD RMF (Risk Management Framework) and STIGs.
* Provide technical documentation, system diagrams, and build instructions for ATO (Authority to Operate) packages.
* Participate in agile development processes and sprint planning sessions with USAFE and contractor teams.
* Troubleshoot and resolve build failures, deployment issues, and runtime anomalies under operational constraints.
What We Are Looking For
1. 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
2. 3+ years of experience in Java software development using Apache Maven.
3. Experience supporting DoD or USAF systems in classified environments (SIPR/NIPR).
4. Familiarity with secure coding practices and DISA STIG compliance.
5. Experience with Git repositories and CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) in air-gapped networks.
