The Pre & Post-Sales Design Engineering Manager (m/w/d) - (Fire & Security) will drive the continous improvement and growth of the Design engineering function in Germany. Reporting to the European Director of Engineering, this role will lead both pre‑sales and post‑sales engineering activities across Germany.
The successful candidate will work closely with global pre‑ and post‑sales engineering teams to drive efficiencies, improve quality, increase scalability, shorten lead times, and enhance margins. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with field engineering teams, the Global Center of Excellence (GCoE) post‑sales engineering team, and regional leadership teams to standardize and simplify processes across all pre‑ and post‑sales resources within Johnson Controls.
Your Responsibilities:
You will drive the continous improvement and growth of the german engineering function in fire suppression, fire detection & security at Johnson Controls by:
1. Working closely with installation and sales leaders across the region to identify pre‑ and post‑sales engineering needs
2. Supporting communication and awareness of capabilities and outcomes within pre‑ and post‑sales engineering
3. Enabling enterprise-wide support by expanding the utilization of the GCoE global engineering team across the region
4. Improving efficiency by harmonizing engineering standards and processes into a regional/global model wherever possible
5. Leveraging GCoE processes in pre‑ and post‑sales engineering to enhance efficiency and scalability
6. Identifying quick wins and supporting both short‑term and long‑term strategies
7. Ensuring that the pre‑ and post‑sales engineering teams are prepared to proactively support new products and innovations as they are commercialized
8. Standardizing and simplifying processes across all pre & post‑sales application engineers within the region
What We Are Looking For:
9. University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent; alternatively, a Meister qualification or comparable certification combined with relevant professional experience would be benefitial
10. Extensive experience in operations, engineering, sales or a related discipline supporting a successful engineering team within a large global organization
11. Strong understanding of pre‑ and post‑sales engineering practices, with a process-driven mindset and the ability to drive consistency in complex global environments
12. Extensive knowledge of the fire & security industry
13. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization and drive results across functions
14. Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with strong problem-solving capabilities
15. Strong strategic thinking combined with execution excellence
