Beyond Talent has been appointed to identify a talented Head of Accounting DACH for an international luxury group based in Munich, Germany.
This is a strategic leadership role for a highly experienced accounting professional with strong technical expertise, excellent knowledge of the German market, and proven experience managing complex finance operations across the DACH region.
The successful candidate will lead the accounting function, ensure financial accuracy and compliance, and act as a key business partner to local and regional stakeholders. Strong SAP expertise and fluent German are mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the accounting function for the DACH market, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all entities.
* Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities in line with local statutory requirements and group standards.
* Ensure full compliance with German GAAP, tax regulations, internal controls, audit requirements, and group accounting policies.
* Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inter-company transactions, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations.
* Act as the main point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and internal finance stakeholders.
* Drive process improvements, automation, and best practices within accounting operations, with a strong focus on SAP optimisation.
* Partner closely with Controlling, Retail, Operations, HR, Legal, and regional finance teams to support business decisions and financial governance.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the local accounting team, promoting accuracy, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
* Support reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by providing reliable accounting data and insights.
* Contribute to strategic finance projects across the DACH market, including systems, controls, reporting, and organisational improvements.
Profile
* Proven experience in a senior accounting leadership role, ideally within luxury, retail, fashion, consumer goods, or an international group environment.
* Strong knowledge of German accounting standards, statutory reporting, tax requirements, audits, and compliance processes.
* Previous experience managing accounting operations across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland is highly desirable.
* Advanced SAP knowledge is essential.
* Fluent German is mandatory; fluent English is also required.
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing accounting teams.
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving abilities.
* Confident working with senior stakeholders in a fast‑paced, international, and matrix environment.
* Strategic, hands‑on, precise, and solution‑oriented, with strong attention to detail.
* Based in or willing to relocate to Munich, Germany.
