The preferred starting date is October 1st, 2026. The position is available for four years (until September 30, 2030). In principle, this position can be divided into two part-time positions.
The University of Konstanz is a dynamic and internationally successful research university with approximately 10,000 students. Since January 2019, the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” brings together researchers from political science, economics, sociology and related disciplines to study the political causes and consequences of inequality. The advertised postdoctoral position is affiliated with the Chair of “International Politics – Global Inequality” (Prof. Dr. Gabriele Spilker) in the Department of Politics and Public Administration, as well as with the Cluster of Excellence.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach courses at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels in international politics. The teaching load is 4 hours per week (SWS) during the semester terms, plus supervision of BA and MA theses and occasional provision of administrative support to the “International Politics – Global Inequality” working group. Furthermore, the post-doc will have the freedom to pursue independent research projects, ideally in line with the research focus of the group and “The Politics of Inequality” Cluster.
Your Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities at both Bachelor's and Master's levels (4 SWS) in International politics
Supervision of BA and MA theses
General administrative support for the chairholder
Opportunity to pursue independent research, ideally related to the research priorities of the working group and the cluster
Your Competencies
Excellent PhD in political science or a related discipline
Good knowledge of research in international politics
Experience in university teaching
Recognizable independent research agenda
Strong quantitative methodological skills are an advantage
Strong written and oral communication skills in English
