ENG Bauen is supporting a major international chemical operator on a large-scale, capital-intensive petrochemical construction programme in Germany, forming part of a long-term energy transition and circular economy investment. As the project moves deeper into the commissioning and start-up phase, the successful energisation, testing, and operational readiness of critical electrical infrastructure is fundamental to maintaining construction and commissioning milestones across the facility.
We are seeking experienced, site-based Electrical Commissioning Engineers to support the commissioning, testing, energisation, and start-up of complex industrial electrical systems across process units, utilities, and associated infrastructure. These positions will operate at the key interface between Construction, Vendors, Commissioning, Operations, and QA/QC teams, ensuring safe and technically compliant system readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for executing commissioning activities across LV and MV systems, substations, MCCs, transformers, field instrumentation interfaces, and associated electrical distribution infrastructure. This is a delivery-critical role requiring strong commissioning discipline, technical authority, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced live construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across electrical systems and associated infrastructure.
* Support energisation planning, testing procedures, functional testing, and start-up activities.
* Coordinate electrical system handover from Construction to Commissioning and Operations.
* Review commissioning documentation, test packs, loop checks, and vendor documentation.
* Interface closely with Construction, QA/QC, Vendors, and Operations teams to resolve commissioning and readiness issues.
* Support troubleshooting, fault-finding, and technical issue resolution during commissioning and start-up phases.
* Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project safety, quality, and operational procedures.
* Maintain accurate commissioning records and system status updates throughout execution.
Qualifications & Experience
* Engineering background in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
* 5+ years’ experience in electrical commissioning roles within petrochemical, process, energy, or heavy industrial projects.
* Strong experience with LV/MV systems, substations, MCCs, transformers, and industrial electrical distribution systems.
* Hands-on site commissioning experience within large-scale EPC or EPCm project environments.
* Strong understanding of commissioning workflows, system turnover, isolation procedures, and start-up sequencing.
* Ability to operate effectively within high-pressure construction and commissioning environments.
* English required; German advantageous.
