About the area
In the "Embedded Systems & Artificial Intelligence" team, we explore which technologies and systems will be feasible and beneficial in the future. To this end, we develop innovative solutions for a wide range of challenges, from concept studies to prototypes. Our work includes the design and implementation of AI-based solutions for diverse battlefield issues, the development and demonstration of software and hardware prototypes, and the design and testing of methods for integrating AI applications into safety-critical systems. All of this takes place at the cutting edge of technology, in close collaboration with internal and external clients and in partnership with other key European players in the industry.
Your tasks
If you are passionate about the development of future technologies and about secure and trustworthy AI and its certification, then you can support us in the following ways:
* Selection & Evaluation of Neural Networks
* Training neural networks
* Curating datasets and targeted building & expansion
* Contributing to the design of overall system and software architectures
* Design and implementation of software modules according to requirements
* Preparation of R&T reports and studies
* Development and implementation of internal company innovation measures
* Production and support of functional prototypes (proof-of-concept), especially in the field of AI-based computer vision.
Your profile
* Extensive and varied professional experience (> 5 years)
* Knowledge of standards and norms (e.g. DO-178C, ED-324)
* In-depth knowledge in the areas of function development, embedded software development, and testing and validation.
* Completed university degree in a scientific or technical field (computer science, electrical engineering, aviation or similar)
* First, preferably relevant professional experience
* Theoretical knowledge in the field of machine learning / computer vision (neural networks, CNNs and transformer architectures, feature extraction, classifiers)
* Knowledge or experience in the field of Trustworthy AI, Explainable AI and/or Certifiable AI
* Practical experience with modern machine learning frameworks, e.g., PyTorch or JAX
* Practical experience with C/C++, Python and Git
* Knowledge or experience with object detection, image classification, image segmentation, or metric learning is advantageous.
* Knowledge or experience in software development for safety-critical systems (e.g., for avionics according to RTCA DO-178C) is an advantage.
* Knowledge or experience in software verification and validation is an advantage.
* Experience with SCRUM (or other agile development methods) is an advantage.
* Very good German and good English skills, both spoken and written.
