Backend Engineer - Connected Car (f/m/d)
As a Backend Engineer at Hyundai Autoever, you will be an integral part of our Connected Car IT Team. Your primary responsibility will be the operation and maintenance of our in-house backend applications that support Connected Car services. In this role, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and support of services for Hyundai, KIA, and Genesis vehicles. This includes handling vehicle data from a customer-centric perspective, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality. To succeed in this position, you should have a strong technical background and a solid understanding of vehicle data management, reporting, modification, and end-to-end testing. Experience with APIs, database queries, and scripting is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strong understanding of automotive vehicle data management and the interface between cloud systems and IoT devices.
* Developing, enhancing, and maintaining backend applications, databases, and servers for Connected Car services.
* Building interfaces between applications and ensuring reliable delivery of vehicle data from the backend cloud.
* Analyzing raw-level datasets in the database and visualizing reports in a customer-friendly format via APIs.
* Collaborating closely with offshore and onsite operations teams across multiple technical domains.
* Coordinating an external developer team and guiding them through technical requirements.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or comparable qualification.
* 5–8 years of experience in
data engineering
or
data backend engineering
.
* Hands-on experience as a
Connected car backend developer
.
* Hands on experience in
REST
and
SOAP APIs
.
* Proven ability to manage and configure
web-based applications
, including web/WAS server environments.
* Proficient in
SQL, Python
and
Java
: skilled in retrieving and processing data from diverse sources (SQL databases, APIs, CSV files, and Elasticsearch, etc.) supporting both real-time and batch processing.
* Experience with
CI/CD
pipelines and
PostgreSQL
database management.
* Solid understanding of system architecture.
* Expertise in performance tuning for databases and applications, as well as enhancing application security.
* Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
* Very good English skills + another European language would be considered as a plus (German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech, etc.)
* Willingness to travel to other EU countries as required
Nice to have:
* Experience IoT service protocol: HTTPS, MQTT, AMQP, WebSocket
* Experience Troubleshooting: between IoT device and backend cloud application.
* Familiar with public cloud services, preferably AWS (EC2, S3, SES, SNS).
* Experience in Container environment (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
