The Franconian International School (FIS) in Erlangen, southern Germany, is a progressive international school serving the diverse community of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Educational Technology (EdTech) to lead the strategic integration of technology across our whole school (Early Years to Grade 12). This is a key leadership role that bridges pedagogy, innovation, and systems, ensuring technology meaningfully enhances learning, teaching, wellbeing and school operations. The candidate will be a member of the Extended Leadership Team and Safeguarding Team. Head of Educational Technology (EdTech) – Whole School Starting: August 1, 2026 Employment Type: Full-time Contract Type: 2 years Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Governance Develop a coherent, future-focused EdTech strategy Keep SLT abreast of developments in the EdTech field and advise them accordingly Monitor external developments (e.g. Large Language Models, university and workforce requirements) Plan and manage a sustainable multi-year EdTech budget aligned with learning outcomes and in collaboration with Network AdministrationPartner closely with Network Administration to support educational innovation Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Develop a digital literacy curriculum EY – G12 and horizontally align it with other curricular areas Lead with innovative EdTech approaches for impactful classroom implementationDesign and deliver targeted EdTech professional learning for staff Systems, Infrastructure & Operations Lead on educational development of curriculum and learning management systems and respective workflows Review and advise on EdTech infrastructure needs Develop and implement strategy for managing and reviewing filtering and monitoring systems in collaboration with Network Administration Develop and implement policies on online safety, digital citizenship, and wellbeing in collaboration with the safeguarding and pastoral teams Ensure GDPR and data privacy compliance across all EdTech use Lead parental engagement through workshops and guidance on parenting in the digital age in collaboration with the counseling and pastoral teams Review and monitor educational apps and software for safety and suitability The ideal candidate A leadership track record in EdTech strategy, coaching, technology integration and curriculum development Strong communication, coaching, and change-management skills Deep knowledge of learning platforms (e.g., Toddle, ManageBac) What we offer An initial 2-year employment contract, with the clear intention of offering a permanent position afterwards An exciting role in a welcoming, international environment with a friendly and open team culture A progressive workplace with excellent resources and modern facilities Professional growth and impact: dedicated planning time, ongoing professional learning opportunities, and the chance to actively contribute to shaping the future of the school Competitive remuneration: salary according to the FIS Salary Scale based on experience, with relocation support and contributions towards pension scheme Additional perks: Job Ticket-pass for public transportation, JobRad leasing, EGYM Wellpass membership, Corporate Benefits, and on-site parking Equal Opportunity and Child Protection Statement The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, verification of identity and proof of qualifications.
