We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support engineering and investment projects at the Olen site. The role focuses on the modernization and expansion of Germanium production facilities within the Electro-Optic Materials business unit. This is a contract position until the end of the year, with potential for yearly extension. On-site presence of minimum 3 days/week is required.
The mission is part of a strategic initiative to upgrade and expand production capabilities for Germanium-based materials used in space, optics, and electronics. The business unit is a global leader in high-performance material solutions, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and recycling technologies.
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Translating project requirements into technical designs for equipment, piping, and mechanical components
Executing conceptual and basic engineering (layout, design, calculations, equipment selection)
Proposing technical solutions and contributing to HAZOP risk analyses
Supporting procurement activities and managing project budgets and planning
Coordinating with site supervisors during execution and startup
Ensuring quality control of internal/external design work and maintaining as-built documentation
Technical Requirements:
Master's degree in Engineering (preferably Electromechanics) or equivalent experience
10+ years in industrial mechanical/process equipment design
Proficient in Autocad (2D/3D); other design tools are a plus
Strong analytical skills (heat/mass balances, pump/pipe design, etc.)
Familiarity with engineering standards and safety regulations

Strong communication and reporting abilities
Team player with decision-making capabilities
Fluent in Dutch and English ; basic German/French is a plus
VCA certification is mandatory
