Overview

Senior Sales Engineer (DACH) remote, Germany. The Sales Engineering team is building a team adept at identifying customer pain points, developing solutions, presenting the Fastly value benefits, and addressing technical objections. The Senior Sales Engineer should be able to use technical and sales skills to understand customer needs, position the Fastly technology platform, develop a technical sales strategy, and work cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering. Experience delivering compelling demonstrations of cloud solutions and security products is essential; knowledge of Compute platforms is highly desirable.


Responsibilities

* Understand customer needs and build a technical sales strategy
* Perform product demonstrations live in the field or via video conference
* Provide pre-sales support to customers in establishment of configurations and services
* Participate in product, sales, and role-specific trainings to maintain effectiveness
* Contribute content for general customer enablement
* Assist in responding to proposals, RFIs, and RFPs
* Work closely with Account Executives and Account Managers
* Research prospects’ business/technology before engaging
* Build and support customer POC/POV solutions (including Security such as WAF, DDoS, Bot Management, as well as Delivery, Streaming, Edge Compute and Cloud Storage)


Basic Qualifications

* Native-level German language proficiency for all business engagements in German, with business-level English
* Right to work and live in Germany
* 5+ years in a similar role (preferably pre-sales and SE)
* Experience selling to or working in a relevant industry
* Knowledge of cloud, security, and web technologies
* Customer-facing experience
* Experience delivering demos to both technical and business-focused prospects
* Knowledge of video streaming and web technologies is a plus
* Strong written communication skills
* Comfortable keeping up with technology trends in cloud services
* Open, curious, and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things
* Willing to mentor junior sales engineers and educate Account Executives/Account Managers
* Ability to travel domestically; being in a major city or near an airport is desirable


Nice to have

* Ability to code/learn a web scripting/programming language (Varnish/VCL/JavaScript/Rust/Go)


Work Hours

This position will require you to be available during core business hours.


Work Location & Travel

This position is open to Germany (remote). Being located in a major city with easy access to an airport is desirable. Travel throughout the DACH region and to the USA may be required as per role or manager
