Role Overview
As Director Operational Finance, you will take full ownership of Spryker’s global operational finance function and play a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational excellence, and scalability of our finance operations. Reporting directly to our CFO, you will lead and develop a team of four accounting professionals, supported by external shared service providers, and ensure best‑in‑class accounting governance that supports Spryker’s ambitious growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, develop, and mentor a high‑performing team of four, and oversee external shared‑service partners to ensure smooth, scalable operations.
* Own Spryker’s end‑to‑end accounting processes across all entities, ensuring compliance with Local GAAP (HGB), transfer pricing principles, and relevant international standards.
* Oversee accurate and timely month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, including standalone and consolidated financial statements.
* Ensure robust internal controls, accounting policies, and governance frameworks are implemented and adhered to across the company.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, workflows, and systems to support automation, quality, and scalability in a high‑growth SaaS environment.
* Oversee revenue accounting, including revenue recognition, contract reviews, and collaboration with Sales, Legal, and FP&A partners.
* Manage intercompany accounting, including charges, eliminations, reconciliations, and global cash flows.
* Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, regulatory bodies, and other external financial stakeholders.
* Partner closely with FP&A to ensure alignment between accounting outputs and business insights, supporting accurate planning, forecasting, and reporting.
* Support strategic projects such as reorganizations, ERP enhancements, system integrations, M&A readiness, and global entity expansion.
Required Experience & Expertise
* 8–12 years of operational finance experience, ideally in SaaS or other software‑driven business models.
* Strong technical knowledge of Local GAAP (HGB); IFRS experience is a strong plus.
* Demonstrated experience owning an accounting function or leading a multi‑person team in a dynamic, international environment.
* Proven expertise with revenue recognition, intercompany accounting, and group accounting workflows.
* Track record of driving process improvements and scaling accounting operations, particularly in high‑growth environments.
* Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
* Strong understanding of internal controls and financial governance best practices.
Technical Toolkit
* Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite or a comparable ERP system; experience in system implementation or optimization is a plus.
* Expertise in Excel and/or Google Sheets, with the ability to analyze and model financial data efficiently.
* Familiarity with SaaS accounting concepts and KPIs (e.g., ARR, billings, deferred revenue, retention) and the ability to work effectively with modern finance tools to streamline workflows and automate reporting.
Ways of Working
* A hands‑on, detail‑oriented leader who can dive into the numbers while guiding and developing the team.
* Structured, reliable, and quality‑driven—able to build clarity and trust through accurate financial execution.
* Strong communicator with the ability to translate complex accounting topics into clear messages for non‑finance stakeholders.
* Proactive, improvement‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment undergoing continuous transformation.
* Collaborative mindset, committed to being a trusted business partner across departments.
* Fluency in English and German is required.
Benefits
* Work from anywhere with fully hours and unlimited vacation days.
* Generous office equipment allowance to create a workspace that inspires your best work.
