Overview We are currently seeking an experienced German Contracts & Claims Manager to support the delivery of a major pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Germany. The candidate will need to be fluent in both German and English, have experience in the delivery of construction projects in Germany and with a strong working knowledge of German construction law (BGB / VOB/B)
This role will play a critical part in ensuring robust commercial governance, contract administration, and risk management across a multi-package EPCM delivery model.
You will interface closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and client stakeholders, ensuring best-in-class contract management in a highly regulated GMP environment.

Responsibilities Claims & Risk Management
Proactively identify and manage contractual and commercial risks across the project lifecycle.Lead the preparation, assessment, and negotiation of contractor claims.Work closely with Legal and Project Leadership on dispute avoidance and resolution strategies.Manage the maintenance of robust contemporaneous records to support contractual positions.Commercial & Change Management
Manage the change process including all site instructions and variations ensuring timely evaluation and agreement.Support cost control through commercial oversight and proactive risk identification.Contribute to commercial reporting, cost forecasting, and budget management.Manage the payment process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract payment terms.Analysing change controls and establishing a causation with the project teamContract Management & Administration
Lead the administration of construction and service contracts across multiple work packages within an EPCM environment.Draft, review, and negotiate contract change including commercial terms with contractors and suppliers.Ensure alignment with PM Group contracting standards, procedures, and governance frameworks.Provide contractual guidance to the project team to support the projects deliverablesStakeholder Collaboration
Act as the key commercial interface between PM Group, client teams, and contractors.Support effective cross-functional coordination with:Project ManagersConstruction ManagersProcurement & Supply ChainQuality & Compliance (GMP)Provide clear, commercial input into project decision-making and governance forums.Compliance & Governance
Ensure contracts comply with:German construction law (BGB, VOB/B)EU regulatory requirementsPM Group internal policies and proceduresGMP/GxP expectations within a life sciences environmentSupport internal and external audits and compliance reviews. Qualifications Degree in Commercial Management, Engineering, Law, or Quantity Surveying, related disciplineAdditional legal or commercial qualifications are an advantage8+ years of experience in contracts/commercial management within:Life sciences / pharmaceutical projects (preferred), orComplex industrial, data centre, or semiconductor projectsExperience working within an EPCM or multi-contract delivery model.Proven ability managing contractual risk, change, and claims on large-scale capital projects.Fluency in German in essential.Inclusion and Diversity are core to our culture and values.
