1,2 or 3 -10 hr shifts / week
The Registered Dental Hygienist directs oral hygiene care including comprehensive prevention, maintenance, therapeutic dental treatment and/or restorative services. The RDH educates members of their oral status, motivating them to achieve and maintain optimum oral health.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct patient oral hygiene care including comprehensive prevention, maintenance, and/or therapeutic dental treatment restorative services.
2. Data collection and documentation pertaining to patients oral health in compliance with policy and procedure.
3. Provide oral hygiene instruction and education.
4. Maintain a work area appropriate to a clinical environment in compliance with environmental health and safety standards.
5. Support other office functions during down time, ensuring a level of cooperation and positive work environment.
6. Performs other duties as requested.
Education
7. Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program with a minimum of an associates degree in applied science.
License, Certification, Registration
8. Dental Hygienist License (Oregon)
9. National Provider Identifier
10. Basic Life Support
Preferred Qualifications:
11. Nitrous oxide permit
12. Basic knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment
13. Basic computer skills
14. Restorative function endorsement (Oregon Dental Hygiene license only - this endorsement is included in the Washington State Dental Hygiene license)
Responsibilities:
15. Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including medical history review, periodontal charting, and oral cancer screenings.
16. Administer prophylactic and periodontal maintenance treatments, including scaling, root planning, and polishing.
17. Take and evaluate high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays).
18. Apply fluoride and dental sealants as indicated.
19. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and the importance of preventive care.
20. Collaborate effectively with dentists and other clinical staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
21. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and documentation.
22. Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized operatory.
23. Provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for all patients, addressing their concerns and questions with empathy.
24. Stay current with the latest advancements in dental hygiene practices and technologies.
Qualifications:
25. Valid Oregon Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license.
26. Local Anesthesia endorsement (preferred, or willingness to obtain).
27. Experience with Dentrix, EagleSoft is a plus.
28. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patients.
29. Excellent clinical skills and attention to detail.
