The Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Ulm University Medical Center (Head: Prof. Dr. Miriam Erlacher) is searching immediately for a PhD Position (f/m/d)
to investigate the molecular mechanisms of UBTF-TD in myeloid malignancies

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including cell sorters, flow cytometers, and access to various core facilities, and fosters close collaboration across research groups. We are a young, multidisciplinary, and international team investigating hematopoiesis, bone marrow failure, and leukemogenesis through a range of related projects.
In this project, we investigate how UBTF tandem duplications (UBTF-TD) drive therapy resistance and leukemic transformation in MDS and AML. Using engineered cell models and patient samples from the EWOG-MDS registry hosted by our department, we will study their impact on ribosome biogenesis, transcriptional programs, and hematopoietic function. The position provides training in molecular and translational leukemia research. The candidate is expected to work independently, contribute to student supervision, and help shape future research directions.

Your Profile:
* the candidate should have an excellent master’s degree in the field of molecular medicine/biochemistry/immunology/bioinformatics or related disciplines
* Strong bioinformatics expertise, including proficiency in R and Python for genomic data analysis, transcriptomics, and statistical modeling
* FELASA approved training would be an asset
* we expect exceptional interest in conducting in vivo scientific research
* good speaking and writing skills in English and German are required
* B2 driving license would be an asset
