The Powertrain – Back Shop Mechanic performs and inspects aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM) and depot maintenance on assigned aircraft systems.
1. Perform maintenance and repair on aircraft sub-system assemblies such as main rotor heads, transmissions, stabilators, and their sub-components.
2. Inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.
3. Perform component bearing replacement, bushing replacement, and line reaming of bushings.
4. Perform Time Before Overhaul (TBO) replacement.
5. Responsible for completion and maintenance of applicable forms and records.
6. Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
7. Observe all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies.
8. Perform general aircraft maintenance duties (removal and installation of aircraft assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls).
9. Perform additional duties as requested.
Requirements:
10. High School Graduate or equivalent is required.
11. Shall have Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
12. FAA A&P OR FCC Elements 1 and 3 Required.
13. Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P), with at least Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned MDS (AH-64).
14. All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.
15. If No A&P, Must possess an FCC License with Elements 1 and 3 and Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned AH-64 Mission Design Series (MDS).
16. If no FCC License, discuss with Recruiter your willingness to obtain.
17. Must be able to obtain and maintain a T1/CAC NACI US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a T1/CAC NACI Clearance.
18. Valid US Passport Required.
Germany Specific:
19. TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.
20. Travel: As required in support of task order.
Knowledge & Skills
21. Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system.
22. Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work task.
23. Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment.
24. Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
25. Must have skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
26. Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
27. Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
28. Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
29. must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
