Responsibilities / Tasks
The Environmental Specialist supports the global Environment function in implementing and maintaining GEA’s environmental management activities. This role focuses on operational execution, coordination, data management, and the continuous improvement of environmental processes across all GEA sites.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the implementation of GEA’s global environmental standards, guidelines, and programs.
2. Assist in monitoring international and regional environmental regulations and help coordinate necessary actions.
3. Maintain and update global processes related to environmental management and support the delivery of training materials.
4. Provide operational support for environmental topics at GEA sites, including energy, water, waste, emissions, and biodiversity.
5. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the environmental management systems in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 requirements.
6. Collect, validate, and analyze environmental and energy-related data and KPIs, supporting reporting and performance tracking.
7. Support environmental reporting in accordance with relevant frameworks (e.g., CSRD, GHG Protocol, GRI, SBTi).
8. Assist in identifying improvement measures and coordinating global environmental and energy initiatives.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Educational Background
9. University degree (Bachelor/Master), preferably in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
10. Additional certifications in environmental or energy management are an advantage.
Professional Knowledge & Experience
11. Several years of relevant experience in environmental management, sustainability, compliance, or related operational roles—ideally in an international business environment.
12. Practical experience with environmental regulations and international standards, including ISO 14001 and ISO 50001; experience with EMAS is a plus.
13. Hands-on experience in environmental and energy data collection, validation, and reporting.
14. Experience supporting or implementing environmental management systems, audits, or internal trainings.
15. Familiarity with key environmental topics such as energy, waste, emissions, water, and biodiversity.
16. Advantageous: experience with reporting frameworks such as CSRD, GHG Protocol, GRI, or SBTi.
