The Institute of Data Science in Jena is pushing the boundaries of data-driven innovation. Our interdisciplinary research and development team is seeking a highly motivated Geoinformatics Data Specialist to contribute to our mission.
We are working on creating a robust data backbone for various DLR application areas, including aviation, space, energy, transportation, and security. To achieve this, we develop and apply cutting-edge methods in geoinformatics, focusing on sustainable and circular processes, resilient supply chains, and data-driven decision support.
The Data Acquisition and Mobilisation department aims to provide high-quality data for industry and science. This foundation enables the creation of sustainable value chains and informs data-driven decisions in complex systems. Key challenges include usability, availability, and access.
The current MoDa project is developing innovative mobility solutions to support the transition to more sustainable mobility. We are creating a comprehensive data, modelling, and service ecosystem that pools expertise from various DLR institutes. Our focus is on modelling future charging requirements for electromobility and identifying suitable locations for expanding the charging infrastructure.
Using web scraping techniques, we have derived the existing charging infrastructure and representative capacity utilisation of individual charging points on a weekly basis. Planned investigations include:
* Adapting methods for other study areas
* Deducing quality characteristics (e.g., comparison with Federal Network Agency data)
* Examining correlations between charging station utilisation and environmental factors (e.g., land use, building types, or opening hours)
* Developing a representation model to describe geographical locations for location analyses (e.g., using spatial embeddings based on deep learning approaches)
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Ongoing studies in computer science or geoinformatics
* A planned compulsory internship or final thesis
* Strong knowledge of Python programming
* Able to work independently and goal-oriented with quick comprehension
