What To Expect
Tesla's Cell Manufacturing Team is looking for a highly motivated individual to manage new electrode manufacturing engineering projects. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups primarily within Tesla. You will interface across engineering disciplines within Cell Manufacturing, as well as Production Engineering and Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Factory Design, Construction to drive deployment plans of new internal manufacturing processes and equipment in our innovative Electrode area.
You will be immersed in engineering projects from development, design through install, commissioning, ramp, and handover to production. You will use your engineering background to understand the product requirements, technical risks, and validation strategy to accelerate the solutions generation and deployment process. You will communicate and present project status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of a project slip.
What You'll Do
Lead strategic large-scale projects for the design, commissioning, and ramp-up of complex powder handling and dry mixing manufacturing equipment ensuring alignment with Tesla's sustainability and efficiency targets.
Drive cross-functional collaboration as the technical authority for equipment and process optimization, bridging Engineering, Production, EHS and QA teams to deliver safe, high-quality systems.
Develop innovative solution patterns for powder handling and transport by integrating advanced methodologies and adapting them to new challenges
Work with external suppliers to develop comprehensive plans, outlining strategy, scope, schedule, risks, resource requirements, cost targets
Define and drive daily tasks to be performed on the manufacturing line by the multiple engineering disciplines
Inform prioritization of team project work based on schedule, risk, resources, and payback
Track status of projects and action items against the schedule / project deliverables
Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks
Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for projects to the Cell engineering and leadership team
Drive delivery of selected manufacturing project scope
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
3+ years of experience working with development, installation, and ramping up of mass production manufacturing equipment, in a mixture of engineering and project management roles (experience in process mixing and roll-to-roll equipment a plus)
Experience in Project Management tools, including Microsoft Project, JIRA and Confluence and other Agile Project Management methods
Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating scope, resource plans, and schedules
Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage teams
Ability to identify issues and develop corrective measures to resolve
Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
