The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.For our SQS group, we are looking for aScientist in Ultrafast Spectroscopy (f/m/d)The PositionActive participation in the broad science program at the SQS instrumentDevelopment of new optical systems for cutting-edge time-resolved experiments at the shortest (few femtosecond to attosecond) timescalesIntegration and improvement of the current optical systems for time-resolved multi-wavelength pump-probe experiments, especially the extension towards the UV-VUV wavelength regimeDevelopment of individual research activities at the European XFELSupport and consultation to instrument users for their experimental campaignRequirementsPhD in physics or an equivalent academic degreeProven experience with femtosecond optical lasers including dispersion management and optical designExperience with pump-probe experiments on gas phase targetsPractical knowledge of UHV technologies and/or practical experience at a large-scale facility (e.g. SR, FEL) would be an assetKnowledge of programming languages, Matlab, C++ or PythonFor additional information, please contact Michael Meyer ).Working place will be Schenefeld in the Hamburg metropolitan area.
