The Role
As Director Molecular Biology, you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment, working with cutting edge technologies and a broad portfolio of diverse projects.
You will:
* Lead the Molecular Biology teams (> 30 FTE) located in Finland and Germany within our global R&D organization
* Build the Molecular Biology organization and capabilities to further develop our Trichoderma, Bacillus, and Aspergillus protein production platforms
* Manage the R&D activities of your team while actively interfacing with other disciplines within R&D and beyond (e.g. business, portfolio management, applications development, and manufacturing)
* Represent all Molecular Biology R&D activities both internally and externally
* Be a key contributor to the R&D and Technology Strategy development as part of the company's global Development Leadership Team
* Implement the company and R&D & Product/Development strategy into the Molecular Biology function
* The role is based in Darmstadt, Germany and reports to the Global R&D Director
About You
As an ideal candidate, you have:
* Demonstrated leadership experience, having managed R&D teams across multiple geographical locations, including managing managers
* Passion for creating results through and with people and making teams succeed
* Strong communication and organization skills in being able to lead and collaborate across disciplines as well as external partners and academic collaborators
* Team player with strong interpersonal skills and with an ability to build effective working relationships within the functional area as well as beyond
* Pro-active problem solver and innovator; determined to reach agreed goals through mobilizing his/her teams and creating the environment and conditions in which they can be successful
* University degree in molecular biology or related field, with profound knowledge in gene technology and protein expression in microbial production platforms
* Years of subsequent industrial R&D experience, preferably in the enzyme industry
* Demonstrated success in working in product development organizations and track record of successful R&D
* Fluent in English; German or Finnish are a plus
