About the role
BayWa r.e. AG is a globally recognized renewable energy company dedicated to accelerating the energy transition around the world. We are looking for a Procurement Director to lead all Direct Spend procurement activities across Europe and the APAC region. This senior leadership role is integral to shaping and executing procurement strategies for key categories including Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), Solar and Battery components, Balance of Plant (BoP) items and Civil Contracting.
Reporting directly to the COO, the Procurement Director will work in close collaboration with executive leadership to ensure that procurement initiatives are strategically aligned with the company’s objectives, drive operational efficiency, and support a resilient and sustainable supply chain. Please note that this role is focused exclusively on direct procurement and does not include indirect spend or procurement activities outside the specified regions.
What you will do
Procurement Strategy & Governance
* Define and implement procurement strategies for direct categories across Europe and APAC.
* Ensure transparency, compliance, and risk mitigation through robust procurement governance.
* Drive procurement excellence through continuous process improvement, KPI alignment, and best practice adoption.
WTG, Battery and Solar Procurement and BoP/Civil Contracting
* Develop and execute category-specific sourcing strategies and supplier management initiatives.
* Lead supplier prequalification, central tendering, and contract negotiation support for WTG and BoP/Civil works.
* Collaborate with local and central teams via a clear RACI framework to ensure seamless turbine selection and procurement execution.
* Support contract administration and execution in close coordination with the Construction and Legal teams.
BoP Components
* Set and maintain supplier prequalification standards across the region.
* Execute central negotiations and contracting processes for all BoP components and EPC contracts.
* Lead tendering for project-specific procurement demands and coordinate execution with project teams.
* Oversee end-to-end supply chain processes, including order-to-pay management.
What you’ll need to succeed
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
* At least 15 years of procurement experience, including 8 years in a senior leadership or strategic role.
* Experience managing direct spend in construction, renewable energy, or heavy industry sectors.
* Global experience with extensive experience in Europe and APAC are preferred.
* Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or equivalent are highly desirable.
