Medical Affairs Director – Oncology Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Medical Affairs Director to lead and shape the medical strategy across Germany. In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for driving scientific engagement, overseeing strategic medical initiatives, and managing a high-performing MSL team to ensure impactful medical excellence at both national and regional levels. The ideal candidate brings strong oncology expertise, leadership experience, and a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders. An MD is preferred but not required for candidates with substantial medical affairs experience in oncology. Key Responsibilities: Medical Leadership & Strategy Develop and execute the German medical affairs strategy for the oncology portfolio, ensuring alignment with global and regional plans. Provide scientific and clinical leadership to support product launches, lifecycle management, and evidence generation initiatives. Serve as the primary medical counterpart for commercial, market access, regulatory, and clinical development teams. Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop the MSL team to deliver high-quality scientific exchange and strategic stakeholder engagement. Define performance objectives, ensure field excellence, and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration. Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing capability development of the medical affairs field team. External Engagement Build credibility and influence with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and professional societies in the oncology community. Represent the company at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and medical events. Ensure timely and compliant dissemination of scientific information. Evidence Generation & Insights Drive local evidence-generation strategies, including IITs/ISTs, RWE initiatives, and data-gap assessments. Provide medical insights to inform strategic decision-making and contribute to global medical planning. Governance & Compliance Ensure all medical activities adhere to local regulations, industry standards, and internal compliance frameworks. Support the review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials as needed. Qualifications & Experience Required: Significant experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Proven experience leading and developing MSL teams. Strong scientific acumen and ability to interpret clinical data. Fluency in German and English. Preferred: MD or other advanced scientific degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD). Oncology experience, ideally within solid tumors Experience interacting with German KOLs, treatment networks, and oncology centres.
