Research Position in Human-Computer Interaction
(full-time, E 13 TV-L)
Reference No: 2026/034. The start date is May 1st, 2026, or by agreement. The position for a doctoral or postdoctoral researcher is available initially for 2 years, with potential for prolongation, and is paid according to the collective agreement E 13 TV-L.

Join the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) group at the University of Konstanz for an opportunity to research future interaction paradigms for Mixed Reality, collaborate with excellent researchers around the world, and expand your HCI teaching profile.
We work toward improving interaction with immersive technologies through novel user interfaces and interaction techniques by studying human perceptual processing, behavior, and experience. The advertised PhD/Postdoc position should take a focus on supporting social human-human and human-AI interactions in mixed reality (AR, VR and all in-between), investigating both fundamental and applied research questions.
We are looking for a candidate who is inherently curious, self-driven, and independent in their research, but also values teamwork and thrives in collaboration. The working language is English.
Your Responsibilities
Independently explore HCI topics through the development and evaluation of interactive systems
Disseminate research results at top-level international venues through publications and presentations
Contribute to teaching and supervision within the CS curriculum
Postdoc: Co-advise doctoral researchers and contribute to new funding applications
Actively participate in activities of our research group and department
Your Competencies
Background in Computer Science, or equivalent, with respective graduate degree
Good knowledge of HCI-related concepts (e.g., user-centered design and evaluation)
Solid development skills for interactive systems (e.g., Unity, web technologies)
An avid interest in interactive Mixed Reality technologies (VR, AR, etc.)
Expertise in statistical data analysis is optional but beneficial
Excellent English language skills in speech and writing
