Research Assistant in Digital Circuit Technology / Chip Design
Position to be filled as soon as possible | Fixed-term until December 31, 2028 | Part-time (50%) | Faculty of Information, Media, and Electrical Engineering | Deutz Campus
What You Can Expect
* Research collaboration in the cross-university and cross-industry research project “DI-ChipsEDU” as part of the Microelectronics Design Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR)
* Design and improvement of courses and teaching tools on the topic of chip design
* Selection, evaluation, and integration of softcore IP (in particular processor cores based on the open RISC-V ISA) into the OnewareStudio IDE
* Support for an ASIC-oriented workflow, including interfaces for further processing in verification and implementation environments
* Responsibility for extending the IDE with functions for configuration, debugging, and ASIC implementation of the IP
* Development and maintenance of an IP catalog, including metadata and examples/reference designs
* Participation in grant applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
* Contribution to scientific publications
What you bring to the table
* Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable field of study
* Strong knowledge of hardware description languages (Verilog, VHDL)
* Ideally, expertise in digital circuit design
* Knowledge of graphical user interface programming is a plus
* Ideally, initial experience in securing research projects
* Proficiency with Linux systems is a plus
* Good command of German and English
* Independent and analytical approach to work
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
