We are supporting a private equity‑backed organisation within the life sciences sector in the search for a Head of IT. This is a pivotal leadership role within a growing, regulated business undergoing continued transformation based in Munich.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading the IT function end‑to‑end, ensuring technology effectively supports business operations, scientific environments, and future growth plans. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on leadership, requiring close collaboration with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and develop a small internal IT team while coordinating a larger offshore/shared services function
* Own and deliver key technology initiatives, including system implementations (e.g. ERP), infrastructure upgrades, and hardware rollouts
* Ensure reliable, secure, and compliant IT operations within a regulated environment
* Act as a strategic partner to the business, aligning IT priorities with organisational objectives
* Manage third‑party vendors and service providers, ensuring high‑quality delivery and cost efficiency
* Oversee IT governance, risk management, and compliance (including support for regulated/lab‑based systems)
* Drive continuous improvement across IT processes, systems, and service delivery
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience leading an IT function (e.g. Head of IT, IT Director, or similar) within a growing or transformation‑focused business
* Strong technical background across infrastructure, systems, and enterprise applications
* Demonstrated experience delivering complex IT projects (such as ERP implementations and AI roll‑outs – large‑scale upgrades)
* Experience managing both internal teams and external/offshore delivery partners
* Comfortable operating in regulated or compliance‑driven environments (life sciences, healthcare, or similar sectors advantageous)
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to balance hands‑on problem solving with strategic planning
