As a Working Student or Intern, you will support our team in the continuous development of our business case modeling tool powered by Python (Pyomo). This internal software enables us to capture the "right value" of BESS and hybrid projects driven by prevalent market conditions and price forecasts.
Beyond supporting the backend of the tool, you will also play an anchor role in analyzing and interpreting the results, helping us to inspect the underlying price forecast assumptions and evaluate future market dynamics. The position offery a unique opportunity to excel in multi-functional field and familiarize yourself with technical, commercial, and financial aspects involved when valuing renewable energy projects.
Your Contribution to the Big Picture:
* Energy System Modelling and Version Control: Supporting in-house optimization models using Pyomo to simulate dispatch strategies and maximizing project value. Furthermore, applying clean coding practices, maintain modular code structures, and contribute to internal Git repositories
* Energy Market Research: Support energy market fundamentals research and evaluate revenue streams (DA/ID/FCR/aFRR/etc.) across European (and beyond) markets
* Reporting: Prepare insights, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making across multi-functional teams
Your skills are needed:
* Studies: You are enrolled in a Master’s program in Energy Systems, Power Engineering, Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or similar
* Technical understanding: Basic/foundational experience with optimization modelling practices like MILP/LP,good knowledge of energy systems and Energy Market concepts,exposure to cloud platforms or dashboarding tools (e.g., Streamlit, Power BI) is a plus
* Software skills: Very good MS Excel skills (VBA experience would be a big plus) and strong Python (particularly in optimization space) skills,familiarity with different solvers like cbc, Gurobi, CPLEX etc. and version control systems e.g. Git/Bitbucket is desired
* Language skills: Very good language qualifications in English, written and spoken (level C1/C2)
Your Checklist:
* You are enrolled as a student and available for approximately 18 hours per week (35 hours per week is possible during the semester break) and can support us for 12 months. The position is intended for approximately one year, with a strong opportunity to continue with a Master's Thesis on a related topic after mutual discussionYou will receive fair compensation and benefit from other great perks
