This is not a typical Host position.
At Big Mamma, you are the first impression of the entire experience — the person who sets the tone, manages the flow and ensures that every guest feels expected, welcomed and valued.
In our restaurant Edmondo in Hamburg, you will operate in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where attention to detail, communication and anticipation make the difference.
Your role & impact
As a Head Host / Hostess, you take full ownership of the guest journey from the very first moment:
* Deliver a warm, professional and structured welcome at all times
* Manage reservations, walk-ins and table allocation (Reservierungen & Tischmanagement)
* Optimize seating flow and coordinate closely with the floor team
* Anticipate guest needs and adapt your communication accordingly
* Handle peak moments with composure, clarity and efficiency
* Elevate waiting time into a positive, well-managed experience
In addition, in your role as Head Host / Head Hostess:
* Lead, train and coordinate a team of 3 hosts/hostesses, ensuring service consistency, engagement and performance follow-up
* Oversee back-office operations (reservations, guest database, service planning) while optimizing booking strategies and seating flow
* Act as a key liaison between front desk and operations, ensuring high standards in guest communication, problem solving and overall experience
You are not just greeting guests — you are orchestrating the entrance experience.
What we’re looking for
* Fluent German (min. C1) and confident English
* Previous experience in hospitality, guest relations or high-volume service
* Strong communication skills and natural presence
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
* Calm under pressure, solution-oriented mindset
* A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience
