What's the role?
In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible to manage joining technologies within Hilti. With a global view, you are in the driver seat to advance existing joining technologies, such as welding or brazing, as well as to integrate new joining technologies in given infrastructures. Working in diverse teams and connecting the plant landscape and the development departments are just two important aspects in your role.

What does the role involve?
Joining is a key technology in terms of differentiation by enabling function-optimized and hybrid parts. Following this trend, many technologically complex applications in the Hilti portfolio exist. To be prepared for development trends and technological substitutes, your central task is to manage existing and upcoming joining technologies in both tool (. rotary hammers, saws) and insert (. drill bits, chisels, cutting discs) applications.
In this role you will evaluate existing technologies and classify them into a holistic approach to identify synergies for the technologies and their application in Hilti products. As a central position, you will define crucial future (joining) technologies, describe their use cases and foster a reliable network to generate and manage relevant knowledge within Hilti. In close collaboration with the business units, you will consult and support the product development project teams. Technological feasibility and economical questions - such as make or buy decisions - must therefore be weighed in balance. Together with the project teams, you will represent the topics in various steering committees.

What you need is:
1. You hold a master’s degree in engineering or in a similar field. A PhD in this area is beneficial
2. You have a broad understanding of different joining technologies and dedicated work experience
3. You have experience regarding creativity methods to generate new approaches with respect to quality, productivity and product differentiation
4. You have outstanding communication skills, social competencies and the ability to manage complexity
5. You are open minded and would call yourself a Tech Savvy
6. You have excellent written and spoken English skills, German language skills are an advantage
