The project investigates the antifibrotic effects of natriuretic peptides and cyclic GMP in lung disease. Specifically, we aim to elucidate the function and signaling of the endogenous endothelial hormone C-type natriuretic peptide in pulmonary fibrosis and to evaluate its therapeutic potential. A multidisciplinary approach will be employed, including genetic mouse models, studies of human samples, advanced imaging, molecular biology techniques, and single-cell RNA sequencing. Hence, experience in molecular biology, cell biology, or animal experimentation will be an advantage. We offer a stimulating and international research environment with close collaborations with the Comprehensive Heart Failure and Rudolf Virchow Centers in Würzburg as well as with the UGMLC lung research center in Gießen.
