Duties Description Located in Jones Beach State Park, this Park Manager 1 will be responsible for managing Payroll and Personnel staff in the Business Office and Central Revenue staff, which includes hiring, providing on-the-job training, and scheduling office coverage to ensure all shifts are adequately staffed and that there is ample coverage for special events and busy weekend days
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Conducting in house agency mandated orientation/OER/Health & Safety trainings ensuring that deadlines are being met, and staff are aware of agency policies and protocols
• Managing the Tour Fund for the facility
• Managing all cash/credit card sales banks within the facility (this involves working closely with operational area management and their supervisors to ensure that all areas are supplied with adequate equipment and funds
• Receiving and testing all POS equipment (currently ParkHub and Aspira)
• Providing daily and weekly reporting to Albany and Headquarters
• Tracking and following up on invoices to ensure revenue collection, providing invoices to organizations for collection of funds, and submitting and reconciling payments as needed
• Completing and submitting refund requests to Headquarters for final approval and processing
• Working with Albany/Headquarters on any credit card transaction disputes
• Scheduling and conducting audits as necessary ensuring all regional requirements are met
• Preparing reports, such as the overall park budget, ROA/ROA projections, and probationary/evaluation reports
• Maintain small office and POS equipment; ensure all equipment resources are kept in working order and address any issues as needed to maintain a functioning department
• Addressing any departmental employee conduct issues
• Other related duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS or 55-b/c Qualifications:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).**
To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:
Either 1. six years of experience working in a park or recreational facility within a park* in any two of these functional areas: administration (business, personnel, finance); capital or operational planning; recreational programming; public relations/visitor services; maintenance; or environmental education/interpretation. This experience must have included two years of supervisory experience;
Or 2. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in environmental education, environmental management, environmental policy, environmental sustainability, forestry, golf course management, historic preservation, natural resources management, park administration, park management or recreation management AND two years of supervisory experience working in a park or recreational facility within a park* as described in any of the functional areas listed in option 1 above.
* A park or recreational facility within a park is defined as a location that offers at least three of the following elements: ballfields, campgrounds, golf courses, hiking trails, historic structures, marinas, picnic areas, playgrounds, recreation programs, swimming facilities or education, environmental or interpretive programming.
If three or fewer New York State OPRHP promotional candidates respond to this notice, the agency may, at its discretion, nominate a qualified employee for a permanent non-competitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law.
