Power Electronics R&D Engineer – Automotive (Senior / Principal Level)
Location: Nuremberg, Germany | Onsite Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Power Electronics R&D Engineer to join a leading tech company in the automotive sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation power electronics solutions for electric vehicles, motor control units, and battery chargers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify needs and define system requirements in the digital power domain.
* Contribute to technology roadmap development for next-generation power products.
* Explore and support the definition of advanced power modules and packaging technologies.
* Develop novel power conversion architectures and converter topologies.
* Lead parameter design, component layout, prototype build-up, and verification/validation of converter concepts in R&D laboratories.
* Mentor and coach junior team members.
* Present and defend innovative ideas and solutions to the product line and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or equivalent, with relevant experience in the Automotive sector (OEM or Tier 1 supplier).
* Strong theoretical knowledge of power electronic converters, magnetic components, power semiconductor devices, and converter control.
* Proven track record in product development and release.
* Hands-on experience with power converter prototype building and verification.
* Skilled in analysis, design, simulation, and verification of key parameters in power converter technologies, including power loss analysis, semiconductor selection, magnetic component design, PCB design, and modulation techniques.
* Self-reliant, autonomous, target-oriented, and proactive problem-solving mindset.
* Flexible, calm under pressure, and eager to explore new technologies.
* Good command of written and spoken English.
* Willingness to travel occasionally for project needs.
