The position
s focus on one (or combination) of the following:
1. Employing novel brain stimulation technologies (beyond TMS and tACS) to drive dynamical neural states
2. Employ computational model-based M/EEG (Bayesian, state-space, and reinforcement learning) to uncover the evolution of cognitive and neural states
Who we are looking for: the ideal candidate must:
3. Hold a degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
4. Be proficient in English (German language skills are not necessary).
5. Be interested in psychological processes, their computational architecture, and their neural basis, and in the lab’s research domains
6. Have experience in designing and performing cognitive psychology / neuroscience experiments, and knowledge in statistical analysis methods.
7. Have scientific programming skills in Matlab / Python.
8. Experience in EEG / MEG / iEEG research, or in tACS / TMS research is highly desirable.
What we offer:
9. PhD positions (TVöD-Bund E13 65%) are for three years with the possibility of extension. Candidates will enroll with the doctoral program of the Neuroscience Graduate Training Centre in Tübingen.
10. Postdoc positions (TVöD-Bund E13 100%) are for two years with possibility of extension.
Lab members have the opportunity to develop their research agenda within the lab research domains, and train in various methodologies. They will join a vibrant neuroscientific research community, with possibility to participate in local and international collaborations. We foster an engaging and mutually enriching work environment, that is supportive of members’ professional and personal development.
The Max Planck Society seeks to employ more disabled people and strongly encourages them to apply. Furthermore, we actively support the compatibility of work and family life. The Max Planck Society also seeks to enhance the proportion of women and strongly encourages qualified women to apply. The Max Planck Society strives for gender equality and diversity.
To apply, please send a single PDF file containing a cover letter outlining your general research interests and your specific interests in the lab’s research topics (max. 1 page), a brief description of your research work and achievements (max. 1 page) and your CV to:
