Stowage Planner (m/f/d)
About this job:
1. Coastal Scheduling & Coordination
* Prepare Coastal Schedules upon vessel departure from the last port in another region.
* Monitor and update schedules in line with ETA/ETB changes and joint working procedures.
* Coordinate berthing with local agents and ensure timely distribution to partners, local agents, and stakeholders.
* Liaise with UTM for schedule recovery plans when necessary.
2. Stowage Planning & Optimization
* Develop optimal stowage plans to ensure effective crane split (POL/POD) and minimize restows.
* Collaborate with terminals and local agents to align on loading plans.
* Assess space availability and coordinate with UTM for potential cargo/empty container fill-ups.
* Observe draft and stowage restrictions, including tier checks for vessels transiting Suez.
* Report any shortfall in stowage capacity to UTM.
* Prepare and distribute preplans in a timely manner.
* Distribute departure EDI files within 24 hours of sailing and upload to VOI (and ASC if applicable).
* Send coastal departure files to next port as early as feasible.
3. Documentation & Reporting
* Update the DBR sheet with EDI data and actual arrival/departure times once available.
* Maintain and update templates for Coastal Schedules, Port of Call lists, etc.
* Ensure voyage files (.mvoy), templates, and EDI files are properly stored on the shared server for easy handover during absence.
5. Special Cargo Handling
* Review and approve or deny special cargo applications (e.g., OOG, Flexitanks) for own operated vessels.
* Check and execute Change of Destination (COD) requests once feasible and confirmed.
Requirements:
* Have a minimum college degree in maritime, preferable seagoing rank CO
* Knowledge of terminal operation, vessel characteristics, stowage, and stability
* Extensive experience with vessel planning software.
* Solid understanding of vessel operation and planning systems as well as software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
* A forward thinking and creative individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization.
* Punctual, well organized, high sense of responsibility.
* Ability to speak fluently in English (communication and writing)
