Black Semiconductor is seeking a Photonic Component Designer(f/m/d) to create broadband passive devices that enable high-performance I/O coupling and polarization management as well as high-speed active components. In this role, you will design, simulate, and optimize fabrication-tolerant devices, develop test structures, and deliver PDK-ready building blocks while applying best practices in design-for-test and design-for-functionality
Design and benchmark passive for I/O coupling and polarization management as well as active components
Perform fabrication tolerant design optimization
Develop test structures and apply design-for-test (DFT) methods
Apply design-for-functionality (DFF) best practices
Proven skills in design, simulation, verification, and optimization of fabrication-tolerant, low-loss, and broadband passive components (ideally grating couplers, edge couplers, and polarization management devices
Experience in design, simulation, verification, and optimization of active components
Programming skills in Python and familiarity with Git
Hands-on experience in test structure development and design for testing (DFT)
Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) is a plus
