About the role:
The Product Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and drafters in Europe. This role oversees the New Product Development (NPD) and R&D projects during the execution phase for the B&L and JPI product lines, as well as works closely with Product Management on ideation and business case development.
The manager is also responsible for sustaining engineering for B&L products in Norderstedt, as well as driving VAVE and cost-saving initiatives.
This position requires a strategic mindset, strong technical background (mechanical or electrical), and proven leadership skills and will collaborate cross-functionally, support customer needs, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
Aufgaben
* Lead the Norderstedt Product Engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and cost effectiveness. Oversee sustaining engineering for B&L products in Norderstedt, ensuring product quality and performance.
* Drive VAVE and cost-reduction initiatives for our B&L products
* Manage NPD and R&D projects for B&L and JPI product lines, from execution through launch
* Collaborate with Product Management on new product ideation and business case development
* Monitor KPIs and implement action plans to meet performance targets
* Support root cause analysis and second-level technical issue resolution
* Adopt and improve engineering tools and processes (e.g., CAD, PDM, PLM)
* Develop team capabilities through coaching, training, and succession planning
* Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., ATEX, Machinery Directive)
* Coordinate with global engineering resources to optimize capacity and execution
Qualifikation
* Engineering degree with 5+ years of experience, preferably with manufacturing background
* Technical team management experience with 2+ years
* Excellent time management and organization skills
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Ability to produce professional engineering reports and presentations
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in measurement control and regulation technology
* First experiences with IoT
* Must understand BOM management
* Occasional travel required (~10%)
* Must be fluent in English and German
