The advertised position can optionally be performed at one of our central BARMER locations: Berlin, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Wuppertal and approximately 30 other locations in Germany.
Your tasks
* The focus is on the professional and disciplinary management of the Data/AI Governance team with nine employees at several locations.
* In your role as team leader, you shape governance as an enabling framework : You create clear guidelines for the safe, effective and compliant use of data and AI – with the aim of accelerating innovation rather than blocking it.
* They manage strategic topics and tasks within central corporate and core processes, represent the interests of Barmer, and drive the achievement of overarching corporate goals within the BARMER.KI staff department, which currently comprises six teams.
* Data & AI governance at a strategic level: Conception, implementation and continuous development of a company-wide governance framework including guidelines, standards, role models, decision-making processes and control and reporting mechanisms, with consistent consideration of regulatory requirements.
* Strong interface and consulting skills: Close coordination with data protection, corporate risk management and information security, targeted empowerment of AI use case and data platform teams, management of relevant committees and confident moderation of conflicts of objectives and interests between governance requirements and operational needs.
Your profile
* Completed studies in (business) informatics, data science, law with an IT focus or comparable qualification
* Several years of professional and disciplinary leadership experience in the field of data governance, AI governance or compliance in data-driven organizations, ideally in highly regulated industries.
* Leadership as enablement: You lead in a goal- and solution-oriented manner, create clarity through structure and transparency, and empower your team and departments to take responsibility for the safe and effective use of data and AI.
* Clear decision-making and communication skills: understandable presentation of complex topics, timely and well-founded decisions, and active involvement of relevant stakeholders for sustainable results.
* Sound knowledge of data and AI governance principles, role models, lifecycle of AI systems, data/model risks and regulatory requirements.
* Familiar with common frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK, BSI Standards, ISO/IEC 23894 Risk Management, ISO/IEC 42001 AI Management System).
* Technical understanding of modern data platforms (Cloud, Lakehouse, DWH), MLOps/LLMOps, data quality and lineage tools (data catalog).
* You have a command of the German language, both spoken and written, at least at C1 level, which enables you to communicate clearly and precisely in both written and spoken form.
