In the buildup to the upcoming launch of its groundbreaking treatment for a debilitating retinal disease, Apellis Germany is seeking an enthusiastic and talented individual for the role of Brand Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact for patients living with debilitating retinal disease and for the company, leading the cross‑functional Brand team in its first commercial launch in Germany and their first commercial launch in the ophthalmology space. The Brand Lead, Germany will oversee and lead all (pre‑launch) marketing efforts in the cluster. Roles and Responsibilities Preparing the launch of our new targeted C3 therapy incl. pre‑launch activities. Overseeing the classic and digital marketing mix along with the organization’s strategic priorities. Strategic analysis of market and competitive environment. Insight generation and market research, oversee competitor activities. Driving the preparation and execution of the cross‑functional brand and launch plans for the region in alignment with the international brand plan. Adoption and execution of key regional launch tactics including branded and disease state campaigns, positioning, and messaging platforms. Work closely with international, global and US colleagues to ensure alignment on the strategic plan, represent German positions in international brand team projects. Identify, plan, manage and monitor resources for the marketing team (HR, budget tracking and agency management). Cross‑functional leadership of the German congresses, events and ad board strategy with execution of local congresses, stand‑alone (launch) meetings and commercial ad‑boards. Establish strong relationships and develop collaborative partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders in the retinal field. Demand planning and sales forecasting. Overseeing all strategic and tactical marketing tasks, for example the development, production and distribution of marketing materials, organization of external and internal marketing and sales events. Manage external vendors efficiently, e.g. event, communication, and creative agencies. Education, Registration & Certification University degree in life sciences, business, or marketing. Experience At least 10 years of relevant marketing experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry. Launch and country level marketing experience. Prior experience in Ophthalmology (preferred), sales and/or sales management and international experience working across countries would be a plus. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Hands‑on approach and entrepreneurial spirit. Demonstrated success working in a cross‑functional and cross‑geographical team environment. Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment, managing through ambiguity. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and varying levels of the organization. Excellent written and oral communication skills in German & English would be a plus.
