Hauptaufgaben
The specialist is recognized throughout the USAG Wiesbaden and within local German law enforcement agencies, and authoritative source of information to provide explanations of program requirements, regulations procedures and resolve problems or disagreements. Maintains contact and liaison with, the Police Presidents and Polizei Direktion and Polizei Inspection for Hessen and Mainz, Staff Judge Advocate, Public Affairs Office, and USAREUR liaison personnel in order to develop and improve relationships on all police matters of mutual interest. Makes arrangements for the USAG Director and Deputy Director of Emergency Services with appropriate officials, representatives of organizations, police and other public service agency representatives such as the host nation fire departments and police within Hessen and Mainz. Exchanges information to fully inform military and German law enforcement and investigative agencies of requirements, goals, and plans of mutual interest and concern. Maintains personal contact with appropriate German officials in preparation for and during conferences and meetings. Discusses and makes recommendations on actions to be taken. Keeps updated on developments and changes in German law, regulations and procedures of crime prevention affecting US and German relations and law enforcement operations. On behalf of the Director and Deputy Director, Emergency Services coordinates and communicates with Public Affairs Office personnel to mute sensationalism in local press concerning law enforcement matters or incidents within the regional area of responsibility. Acts as liaison between USAG Wiesbaden DES, Host Nation Police in matters of security and law enforcement support.
Interprets from German into English and vice versa, between US Military Personnel and German speaking individuals as well as translating various correspondence. Advises the Director and Deputy Director of Emergency Services and concerned military authorities on proper protocol regarding meetings and public gatherings with host nation and foreign officials. Provides assistance and/or instructions to other local national personnel assigned to the USAG engaged in liaison work and subordinate USAG Wiesbaden DES police liaison personnel. Established liaison with German Police as needed and coordinates support for events and special situations. Serves as interpreter for the Director of Emergency Services and other militaries during official meetings with German law enforcement officials.
Coordinates directly with German State security agencies (Polizei Direktion, Polizei Inspektion, Staatsschutz, Bundeskriminalpolizei and Landeskriminalpolizei on highly sensitive matters such as political demonstrations, blockades of US installations, bomb threats, traffic and security matters. Assists in the development of regional response plans requiring coordination and supporting actions by German State law enforcement and security agencies, or requiring US support of German state law enforcement or security agency plans. Assists in the research and evaluation of German establishments within the regional area known to be sources of racial, sexual or criminal matters considered being detrimental to the welfare of US Forces personnel.
Independently prepares correspondence to German agencies and translates police and legal material into final or required form from English to German and vise versa. Performs delegated personnel management tasks. Assigns work to meet workload requirements. Advises and assists in case of problems. Assists with interviewing applicants referred from Civilian Human Resource Agency. Is responsible for the overall administration and personnel management of 5 LN employees assigned to the Provost Marshal Office. Prepares and maintains local national employee time and attendances documents and inputs data into LNTAP. Monitors and maintains leave requests for local national employees and prepares leave plan for all local national employees. Prepares and maintains shift schedule for five Police Translators. Will assist with translation duties on the Military Police Desk during approved absences of Police Translator (scheduled leave) and ensures that all shifts have a Police translator on duty. Occasionally assists the Police Records Clerk, which generally consists of reviewing military police blotters and reviews military police blotters and MP casework for translation errors, reviewing and closing out cases in ALERTS, assisting with performing background checks, and performing 4833 and 1408 processing and tracking.
Reviews and distributes German Police Investigation Cases to the Police Translators for translation from German to English and conducts final review of completed translations prior to cases being placed in the Military Police Blotter. Tracks all open German Police reports and processes these reports once final German Police report is received.
Performs other duties as assigned.

C-6a:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 4 years of experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.
E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 4 years of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III: 3 years of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level IV: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level V: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.
Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.
Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English AND German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.
