Johnson Electric Aachen is a globally operating company of the Johnson Electric Group. In our Aachen development center, our team works in the development of hydraulic systems and sintered metal applications for the automotive industry and industrial applications.
As a Systems Engineer, you will support global project teams in designing system architecture, managing requirements, and performing component and system testing. Working in a cross-functional team, you’ll help develop integrated mechatronic systems for automotive applications, combining hydraulic systems with motors, controllers, and software. You will also contribute to process improvements and testing through bench and vehicle integration.
This opportunity is initially available on a two year fixed-term contract with the potential to transition to a permanent arrangement.
Your Responsibilities will be to:
1. Develop mechatronic systems according to the V-Model in compliance with automotive standards
2. Understand system requirements on a multi-disciplinary level, define sub-systems and interfaces
3. Coordinate with global expert teams
4. Design and develop systems and system architectures based on customer requirements and for internal development activities
5. Support in defining the testing strategy and scope and support testing and validation on system and integration level
6. Work closely with customer and inter-company development team
Our requirements:
7. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related fields
8. Relevant experience of ideally 2-3 years in a similar position
9. Proficiency in reading technical drawings and ability to create, interpret schematics and diagrams
10. Able to navigate in CAD systems and able to understand FEA and CFD results
11. Practical experience in mechanical and hydraulic systems
12. Solid experience in common development tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink)
13. Familiarity with tools which manage requirements (e.g. Doors, Helix) is a plus
14. Solid understanding of physical principles
15. Excellent team player with a proactive, hands-on attitude, strong communication and problem-solving skills
16. Proficiency in English (both spoken and written), while proficiency in German is highly preferred
