Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Lead and inspire your team: You will lead a team of six dedicated hardware engineers, fostering innovation, ownership, and technical excellence in a collaborative environment. You actively mentor your team, supporting both their technical and personal development.
* Own the hardware roadmap: From concept to mass production, you take full responsibility for the entire lifecycle of our embedded hardware platforms – shaping the future of our RFID reader product line.
* Drive technical development: You’ll lead complex hardware design projects, including circuit design, PCB layout, antenna integration (NFC, HF, BLE), and signal processing – ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability at every stage.
* Be hands-on when needed: While you provide strategic direction, you're also willing to dive into key topics and support your team hands-on when it matters.
* Collaborate across disciplines: You work closely with software, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and a well-optimized final product.
* Ensure timely delivery and product readiness: You manage development processes to meet quality standards, certification requirements, and project timelines – enabling a smooth transition from prototype to production ramp-up.
* Validate and certify: You oversee testing and validation activities, including EMC/EMI compliance, thermal management, and power consumption optimization – ensuring readiness for global markets.
* Stay ahead of the curve: You constantly evaluate emerging trends in RFID, embedded systems, and IoT to drive innovation and keep our products at the forefront of the industry.
Skills & Experience:
* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
* Leadership: 8+ years of experience in embedded hardware development, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring technical teams.
* Technical Expertise: Strong background in embedded system design (microcontrollers, RF, power management), antenna design, and signal processing.
* Tool Proficiency: Skilled in Altium Designer or comparable CAD tools, and familiar with modern hardware development and testing environments.
* Testing & Certification: Hands-on experience with hardware validation, EMC/safety certification, and supporting production ramp-up.
* Communication: Excellent communication skills – confident working in cross-functional and international environments.
* Language Skills: Fluency in English is required, and conversational German is essential for effective day-to-day collaboration, informal discussions, and team integration.
* Location: Based within commuting distance of Puchheim or willing to relocate.
* Additional Experience: Experience with IoT and low-power hardware design, as well as familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies, would be a plus.
