Hauptaufgaben
Performs all tasks necessary to fabricate to completion all single vision and multi vision spectacle prescriptions. Independently operates all fabrication and surface equipment including lens generators, lens measuring instruments, lens markers, lens blockers, automatic edging machines, cutting machines blockers and de-blockers, tinting units, and small hand tools, etc. These tasks require a dexterity exceeding the journeyman level. Exercises a knowledge of optical formulas and transposition or interpretation of spectacle prescriptions.
Single vision, stocked lenses. Receives requests for spectacles showing foci, frame and patient data in job trays along with required lenses. Matches foci of lenses with the prescription. Returns mis-pulled trays to stock selection. Using lens measuring instrument, spots optical center using data from prescription. De-centers lenses from prescription data and blocks lenses using finish blocker. Determines cutting pattern required and cuts lenses to finished eye size. De-blocks and applies safety bevel to edged lenses. Tints lenses as required. Selects finished frame per prescription requirement or assembles as required. Using lens measuring equipment, inspects completed spectacles for flaws, faulty workmanship, and compliance with ANSI standards. Performs periodic inventories as required. Records daily production data and forwards to immediate supervisor. Perform quality control on every order and assist personnel in quality control when needed.
Multi Vision and non-stocked lenses. Receives prescriptions requiring surfacing from Editing and trays the job. Selects appropriate base curve for single vision surface lenses or appropriate base curve and addition power for multi vision prescriptions and performs inventory issue action. Obtains computer generated surface worksheet from prescription data entered into write-up software. Blocks lenses using data from the write-up sheet. Enters job/tray number into the surface generator and monitors the computerized curve cutting process. Selects required laps from surface worksheet. Places fining pad on laps and loads fining machine. Verifies head pressure and fining times. Monitors the fining cycle to ensure that complete fining has taken place. Replaces fining pad with polishing pad and loads laps into polishing machine. Verifies head pressure, polishing solution consistency, and polishing times. Monitors lens polishing cycle to ensure complete polishing has occurred. Washes and de-blocks lenses. Recycles blocks and Free Bond. Inspects final lenses for off power, scratches, waves, irregularities, and compliance to ANSI standards. Re-trays surface jobs into Fabrication trays and sends to the Fabrication section. Performs periodic inventories as required. Records daily production data and forwards to immediate supervisor. Perform quality control on every order and assist personnel in quality control when needed.
Performs routine operator maintenance on or adjustments to equipment used to include oiling, lubrication, etc., in accordance with operator's manuals. Documents maintenance performed and submits work orders for needed work beyond operator maintenance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
A2-4010-5:
Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade.
OR
5 years of specialized experience.
A2-4010-6:
Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently.
OR
8 years of specialized experience of which 3 years must have been performed at the wage group 5 or equivalent level.
• Office automation skills are required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency level B2 AND German Language Proficiency level B2 required.

This is a permanent full-time position (38.5 hrs./week).
