MoveIt2 is an advanced motion planning framework designed for robotic applications, particularly in ROS 2 (Robot Operating System). It enables developers to create sophisticated motion plans for robots, facilitating tasks such as navigation, manipulation, and interaction with complex environments. The "robot hands" project team utilizes MoveIt2 to plan collision-free trajectories to pick and place objects using 5-finger robotic hands for machine loading/unloading applications.
What you will do
* Create digital twins for robotic applications: Integrate a 5-finger robotic kinematic model into a URDF file, add collision objects to MoveIt2, and configure an appropriate trajectory planner.
* Synchronize collision objects with point clouds derived from real sensor data.
* Validate developments in simulation and in physical robot cell.
What you bring to the table
* Enrolled student at a German University/Hochschule with a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Autonomous Systems, or a related field.
* Very good English language skills.
* Programming skills in Python, C++ and C.
* Experience with ROS2 and implementing ROS nodes is a plus.
* Familiarity with Moveit2 and RViz.
* Independent, responsible and structured working style.
