Position Overview
The Vice President of Indirect Purchasing will lead the company’s indirect procurement function, overseeing strategy, sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization for all non-production categories. This executive will partner with business units and functional leaders to drive value, innovation, and efficiency across spend areas such as IT, marketing, professional services, facilities, travel, logistics, and corporate operations. The role requires a strategic leader with strong commercial acumen, proven negotiation skills, and the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategy & Leadership
* Develop and execute the global indirect procurement strategy aligned with company objectives.
* Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing procurement team.
* Drive adoption of best-in-class sourcing processes, category management, and supplier relationship management.
* Category Management & Sourcing
* Oversee sourcing activities across multiple indirect spend categories, ensuring competitive cost structures, service quality, and innovation.
* Establish frameworks for supplier selection, performance monitoring, and risk management.
* Implement demand management and spend control initiatives to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
* Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement
* Partner with business leaders to understand needs and balance cost, quality, and risk.
* Negotiate strategic agreements with key suppliers to secure long-term value and mitigate risk.
* Foster collaborative supplier relationships that drive continuous improvement and innovation.
* Financial & Operational Performance
* Deliver measurable savings and process efficiencies across indirect spend.
* Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms to track procurement performance and compliance.
* Ensure compliance with corporate policies, sustainability standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
* 15+ years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 8 years in leadership roles managing indirect categories.
* Proven track record of delivering cost savings and value creation in complex, global organizations.
* Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
* Experience with digital procurement tools, analytics, and process automation.
