We’re partnering with a mission-driven company that plays a critical role in the healthcare and life sciences space - delivering time-sensitive critical pharmaceuticals and medicines where they matter most. With operations expanding rapidly across Europe through acquisition and service diversification, the business is seeking an agile and strategic IT Director to lead the modernisation, scaling of its European technology infrastructure and IT strategy development.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of IT strategy, reduce third-party dependency, and build scalable systems that underpin a business focused on excellence, reliability, and patient impact, setting the foundations for their growth.
You’ll lead European IT operations with potential scope to grow globally, defining and delivering a roadmap that balances long-term scalability with daily operational excellence. This includes managing Microsoft environments, overseeing vendors and infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, and rolling out business-critical systems.
Reporting to the VP of IT, you’ll lead a small multilingual team, with potential to grow and scale the team. This is not a siloed role—you’ll be embedded in the business, making decisions that directly impact efficiency, user satisfaction, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and execute a scalable IT roadmap focused on modernising legacy platforms, increasing usability, and enabling sustainable growth.
Lead and develop a multicultural IT team, focusing on growing in-house capability while reducing reliance on third-party providers.
Oversee Microsoft tenant management and systems consolidation across multiple locations and business units.
Drive service delivery excellence—monitor ticket volumes, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and track IT user satisfaction
Manage and develop relationships with vendors, ensuring robust SLA performance and value-driven outsourcing decisions.
Maintain rigorous documentation and governance around IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance protocols.
Support rollout of new business applications, systems integration projects, and cloud-based platform improvements.
What You’ll Bring:
8 – 10+ years of IT experience, including senior-level leadership roles ideally with medium size and growing company.
A track record of delivering technology modernisation, system rollouts, and improving operational resilience through IT.
Strong technical background across systems administration, networking, and infrastructure—with a focus on Microsoft cloud environments.
Hands-on experience in Microsoft tenant consolidation, cloud migration, and overseeing multi-site infrastructure.
Strong vendor management and SLA negotiation experience.
Fluency in both German and English; additional European languages are a plus.
University educated, ideally with a degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Desirable:
Cybersecurity expertise, especially in managing or responding to security incidents.
Experience building IT teams from scratch or through regional expansion and integration.
Background in complex, multi site environments.
What We Offer:
A high-impact leadership role where IT is recognised as an enabler—not a support function.
Ownership of the European IT strategy, with flexibility to build, shape and scale the team and infrastructure.
A collaborative, mission-led culture where the work you do directly contributes to delivering critical services that improve lives.
