About The Job CEO, European Digital Bank (m/f/d)
A European digital bank with full regulatory licensing is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (m/f/d) to lead the organization into its next phase of innovation and growth. Operating at the crossroads of banking and technology, the bank delivers API-first infrastructure and embedded financial solutions to business partners across Europe.
With a strong foundation in compliance and digital capability, the bank is looking for a leader who can drive strategic transformation, scale operations, and position the organization as a trusted enabler of next-generation financial services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a forward-looking strategy to strengthen the bank's position within the European fintech ecosystem
2. Lead the digital transformation journey, focusing on scalable, API-based banking services and product innovation
3. Ensure full regulatory compliance while maintaining operational efficiency and agility
4. Serve as the primary representative to supervisory authorities, key partners, investors, and the board
5. Champion a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels
6. Expand strategic partnerships and drive long-term business development
7. Oversee risk management frameworks and governance in alignment with European banking standards
8. Manage crisis scenarios effectively, ensuring institutional stability and reputation
Key Requirements
1. At least 15 years of leadership experience in banking, fintech, or financial infrastructure
2. Experience at CEO or C-level (or one level below) with a proven record in strategic and operational transformation
3. Deep knowledge of digital banking, embedded finance, and platform-based business models
4. Strong familiarity with European regulatory environments (e.g. BaFin, ECB, PSD2)
5. Demonstrated success in managing change, building high-performing teams, and scaling financial operations
6. Excellent stakeholder communication skills and the ability to lead in dynamic, fast-moving environments
7. Fluent in English; German is highly advantageous
